I have enjoyed reading about your adventures and you have inspired me to travel, HARD, while in Germany. I hope you can help me with a question.
Every time i try to book a hostel, in a dorm, 1 bed, they keep telling me I have to book a room alone which increases the price greatly and something I dont want to do. How does a single person book a nights rest at a hostel without having to book an entire room? I hope you can help.
P.S., I dont live in NY, in Canada actually, but would have loved to attend your get together. Have fun.

That sounds ridiculous! Not you of course, but whatever policy that is. Who are you trying to book thru and what town/city/country are you staying in? If you are trying to book thru the hostel directly that might be the issue. Try hostels.com or hostelworld.com. Honestly you may not be booking at a hostel. That sounds like the fishy ‘single supplement’ you get when you take a tour trip.
A real hostel would never charge you for a whole room…unless it was never a hostel to begin with.
