Travel in the Current Economic Enviroment

"Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable." Sydney J. Harris

I was encouraged Thursday night (pics next post) by folks who still planned to get out and travel this year.

The financial news is not encouraging. I don't need to recap it all here, but when they are talking about General Motors filing for bankruptcy, the world is a crazy place.

But why should you still hit the road this year?

There will NEVER be a great time.

This pretty much applies to anything in life. I need to save more money, I'm waiting for my friends to come along, It's too cold, It's too hot, I'm waiting for prices to come down...

All worthless excuses.

I talked before about airlines, hotels and cruises slashing prices like mad. And it does not stop.

Let me give you a simple rule: If someone you love is not going to eat if you take a trip...DO NOT DO IT!

But if your finances are solid, go go go for it!

I will not deny the world economy is in recession...some would say depression. But remember news media get ratings when they hype a situation. They are trying to stay in business too!

Look at YOUR personal situation and make a decision based on that...not if GM might file Chapter 11.
