Nice resource for those of us adventurous enough to step into the world by ourselves. Can’t go everywhere with a tour group can you? Many won’t step out on their own because of the unknown. I did plenty of group tours in the last 2-3 years before my big round the world trip. I even lead a group trip to Costa Rica last year. After that I knew I was ready. The biggest thing you learn with experience: It’s not that difficult and you can get along anywhere.
Whenever I see a post about cheap travel and eats in a big city I post it. If you have any resources about major metropolitan cities, please send to me and I’ll post. I know a few of you are coming to New York this summer, contact me and we’ll get together.
Solo travel is the best way to see a city or country. You can move at your own speed and go when you want to go. There are precautions and tips solo travelers can take and this article covers much of them. Let people know where you are, and don’t take drinks from strangers in bars. I talked to an attorney last week who got the great deal of taking a year off from his firm while still being paid a portion of his salary. He’s taking the time to explore Asia for a few months. Most of us won’t be that lucky. Some will forced into the the career break, like me. Either way I think you’ll be a much better person for it.
With Flight 447 this past week, I thought this article was timely. Panic is a obvious reaction, but it does not have to completely paralyze you.
Virgin America and Google are teaming up for a scavenger hunt on their planes and on the ground. For those of you flying Virgin Atlantic on June 24th, there will be free WiFi on all flights.
