Salvador is the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture, as it was the main point drop-off point for Africans during the slave trade in the ‘New World’, besides the Caribbean and the American South. One of the best tour trips I took and the performance by this dance troupe was one of the many highlights.

Chicago’s Loss: Is Passport Control to Blame?

While people blame everything from President Obama’s visit to the United States Olympic Committee’s in-fighting to Brazil impassioned plea, one thing mentioned was the “harrowing experience” it is to enter the United States, as quoted in the article.

This would not surprise me. It has been harder and harder for potential visitors to the United States to get visas. When they get here they are subjected to questioning that can border on interrogation.

I don’t think that people would blame the US for stringent rules. But when those rules hinder innocent people from visiting the US, or even passing through the US to get to another country, that is a a big problem.

By the way, this is Rio’s video entry to the International Olympic Committee. My Brazil visa expires next year. I will be renewing, no doubt. O ver lá!
